2022 Senior Capstone Project

Here in lies the purpose of this project.

My senior capstone project is a project that every Pitt-Bradford student must complete to graduate. After a few discussions with my advisors, I landed on creating a photo book with poems to accompany the photographs. Over the last four years, I have been taking pictures at Watkins Glen International race track. I decided that Watkins Glen would be my subject for this book. All the images are from events they hosted, and the photo has a poem to go with it depicting the scene or car. Writing poems about race cars is a genuine challenge but one that, with lots of feedback from peers and editing, turned them into quite the companions for these high-quality photographs. Each section is broken down into each event, and these sections have three poems to accompany three photographs.

Minimalism is the key.

I followed a minimalist design with a geometric influence for the overall layout design. I decided to do this because it provides a high-end and modern feel without being too over the top or time-consuming. The color palette I chose matches the track. The blue is from the barrier color, and the yellow and red are from the rubble strips on the edges of the corners to notify the drivers of track limits.
